Press Releases
WASHINGTON - Today, Committee on House Administration Chairman Bryan Steil (WI-01) and Ranking Member Joe Morelle (NY-25) released a joint statement following the arrest of a man with a gun in the Capitol.
"We are severely disappointed in the security failure earlier this week at the CVC. Ensuring visitors, staff, and Members of Congress are safe in the U.S. Capitol is our top priority, as it should be for the USCP. The USCP has requested a nearly $1 billion budget from Congress for their operations, which includes extraneous items that miss the mark in terms of their number one priority, keeping the U.S. Capitol and all who visit and work here safe. The Committee will continue to review this incident and require USCP to conduct a robust review of all visitor screening practices. We must ensure this never happens again."
