Committee on House Administration Ranking Member Rodney Davis (R-Ill.) released this statement paying tribute to the life and service of United States Capitol Police Officer Billy Evans who died in the line of duty on April 2, 2021:

"Today, we honored the life and service of Officer Billy Evans who served 18 years guarding this Capitol and everyone in it. Surrounded by his children, family, and fellow officers at the North Barricade, we were reminded again of the risks each of our Capitol Police officers and their families take on every day. I cannot thank Officer Evans and his family enough for their sacrifice. As a father, knowing that his children, Abigail and Logan, will grow up without their dad by their side is heartbreaking.

"We have lost too many officers this year and that cannot go unnoticed. While the risks to our officers can never completely be eliminated, we have a responsibility to do everything we can to minimize these risks. We know there are steps needed to better support our officers so they can safely serve. We owe it to Officer Evans and every one of his fellow officers to remove the politics and work together to implement these changes."
