WASHINGTON: Today, Committee on House Administration Chairman Bryan Steil (WI-01) wrote to the Acting Director of National Intelligence, Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and Secretary of Homeland Security requesting Member-level, classified briefings to discuss non-citizen voting and foreign interference in American elections.
 

These requests follow President Donald J. Trump’s recent address to the nation, which highlighted serious concerns about the security of American elections.

“The Committee on House Administration (the Committee) has oversight of federal elections and is focused on ensuring that federal elections are secure and for American citizens only.” 

“President Trump’s recent address to the nation about potential foreign election interference included that the country’s voting machines may be vulnerable to foreign disruption... The speech, accompanied by declassified information, raises serious concerns about the security of the nation’s elections.” 
 

“The Committee therefore requests a Member-level, classified briefing from the FBI to discuss if and how foreign malign actors interfere in American elections, and to help inform potential legislative reforms.”
