Lungren Statement on “Pledge to America”
September 24, 2010
WASHINGTON - Today, the Committee on House Administration's Ranking Republican Dan Lungren, R-Calif., issued the following statement on House Republicans' "Pledge to America":
"For too long, the pleas of unemployed and struggling Americans have gone unanswered by Congress. Instead of working to create jobs and lower taxes, out-of-touch Democrats continue to heap more debt on the backs of Americans facing the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression.
"In fact, just today, House Democrats again demonstrated their unwillingness to address the real problems plaguing this country by voting to advance a bill that would force American taxpayers to spend over one billion dollars annually to fund political campaigns.
"Enough. It is time for Congress to put the people first and end this out-of-control spending - including our own. Today, I eagerly stand with my colleagues and promise to identify and reduce wasteful spending within congressional operations and work towards implementing the additional common-sense solutions presented in our 'Pledge to America.'"
