WASHINGTON – Today, the Committee on House Administration unanimously passed the National POW/MIA Remembrance Act of 2015 (H.R. 1670), a measure to direct the Architect of the Capitol to obtain a chair featuring the logo of the National League of POW/MIA Families and have it placed on display in the U.S. Capitol. The measure now heads to the full House for consideration. Chairman Candice Miller (R-MI) and Ranking Member Bob Brady (D-PA) issued the following statements after the Committee’s markup:

“As Members of Congress, we each represent districts with constituents that have selflessly defended our nation on the frontlines of battle. It is thanks to them that we enjoy the principles of freedom, liberty, and democracy that make this country the greatest in the world. The importance of remembering and honoring their sacrifice, and that of their families, cannot be understated,” Miller said. “This chair will serve as a permanent reminder for those who work in and visit the Capitol of what these individuals, including one of our very own colleagues Sam Johnson, gave in service to our nation. May we always remember their service and sacrifice.”

“This chair will serve as a timeless reminder of the sacrifice our service men and women and their families have given our country,” Brady said. “It will bring us one step closer to honoring their courage and commitment to‎ our great nation.”

The National POW/MIA Remembrance Act of 2015 (H.R. 1670) directs the Architect of the Capitol to obtain a chair featuring the logo of the National League of POW/MIA Families and place it in the U.S. Capitol.
