WASHINGTON – Committee on House Administration Chairman Candice Miller (MI-10) and Ranking Member Robert Brady (PA-01) today issued the following statement discussing the security response to last week’s incident involving a small aircraft landing on the U.S. Capitol grounds. Miller and Brady said:

“This week, we met with U.S. Capitol Police Chief Kim Dine and House Sergeant at Arms Paul Irving to discuss the communications process alerting Members and every office within the Capitol complex of emergency situations. It is vital during any emergency that information must be delivered quickly and accurately in order to ensure the safety of the public, staff and Members. Both the Capitol Police and the Sergeant at Arms are quickly and decisively taking steps to identify any possible vulnerability that may exist in the complex and improve protocols for responding to any emerging threats. Our Committee will remain in close contact with those who are responsible for providing security throughout this process. Bottom line, there is no room for error when responding to any potentially dangerous situation. We thank the men and women of the Capitol Police for their service and continued commitment to our Capitol’s security.”
