Washington, DC – Committee on House Administration Ranking Member Rodney Davis (R-Ill.) today called on House Democrats to dismiss the federal contest in Iowa's Second District after Representative Mariannette Miller-Meeks was sworn into office for the 117th Congress.

"I congratulate Representative Miller-Meeks on being sworn in as a member of the 117th Congress today and the next step should be for House Democrats to dismiss the federal contest filed against her," said Davis. "The House should not waste anymore of the people's time or tax dollars on a federal contest in Iowa's 2nd District, especially after the Democrat challenger chose not to exhaust her legal options within the state. There was more than enough time to bring those 22 votes before the Iowa courts where any ruling would have been impartial and in accordance with Iowa law, but that's not what Democrats wanted. Instead, they want throw out Iowa law and use a partisan process to install Speaker Pelosi's hand-picked candidate in the seat. This is not the way our election system should operate."
