Ranking Member Rodney Davis (R-Ill.) and committee members, Congressman Barry Loudermilk (R-Ga.) and Congressman Bryan Steil (R-Wis.), urged the majority to convene this hearing and have continued to advocate for removing politics from many of the security decisions being made and reforming the Capitol Police Board.

The voting members of the board include the House Sergeant of Arms appointed by the Speaker of House, the Senate Sergeant at Arms appointed by the Senate Majority Leader, and the Architect of the Capitol confirmed by the Senate. The board oversees the United States Capitol Police (USCP) and is responsible for the majority of security decisions regarding the Capitol Complex.
