Washington, DC – Ranking Member Rodney Davis (R-Ill.) released the following statement regarding today's Committee on House Administration hearing with the U.S. Capitol Police Inspector General.
"Over the past several months there have been a series of events and reports involving the U.S. Capitol Police that collectively reveal a pattern of behavior by the department that I find to be highly concerning. That is why earlier this week I joined with the other Republican members of the Committee on House Administration to send a letter to Capitol Police Inspector General Michael Bolton laying out these concerns and requesting that he investigate them further. If this Committee's Democrat leadership is going to continue to abdicate its oversight responsibilities then it makes the role of the Inspector General even more critically important than usual. I appreciate the work that Inspector General Bolton and his team have done on reviewing the security failures of January 6. While Democrats continue to operate a sham committee to settle political grudges, Republicans will continue to press for the truth about why the Capitol was so unprepared on January 6th. Let me be clear, it is only a matter of when, not if, there will be accountability for the failures leading up to and on that day. I look forward to discussing these issues with Inspector General Bolton further at today's hearing and to continuing to work with him in the coming months to ensure all of these matters are investigated in a thorough and independent manner."
