WASHINGTON – Committee on House Administration (CHA) Ranking Member Rodney Davis (IL-13) and Congressman Barry Loudermilk (GA-11) released a statement following passage in the U.S. House of Representatives of a resolution to appoint Members to the Joint Committee of Congress on the Library (JCL) and the Joint Committee on Printing (JCP) of the 116th Congress.

"Both the JCP and JCL have important and necessary oversight functions to ensure the Legislative Branch agencies they oversee are operating in the most efficient manner possible. My priorities for the entities under the joint committees' jurisdiction are improving proactive communications with House offices, strengthening a culture of service, and implementing common sense policies and procedures. I trust my friend and fellow CHA Member, Barry, to serve as an engaged Member of these committees and oversee the implementation of CHA's priorities for this Congress," said Ranking Member Davis.

"It's an honor to be appointed to two of the oldest joint committees in Congress, and I look forward to working with my House and Senate colleagues, providing oversight for the U.S. Government Publishing Office and the Library of Congress."

Created on January 26, 1802, the Joint Committee of Congress on the Library is the oldest continuing joint committee of the U.S. Congress. The Committee has oversight of the operations of the Library of Congress, as well as management of the National Statuary Hall Collection, the U.S. Botanic Garden, and works of fine art in the Capitol.

The Joint Committee on Printing, created by the act of August 3, 1846, is one of the oldest joint committees of the Congress. The panel oversees the operations of the U.S. Government Publishing Office (GPO), whose support is essential to the legislative process of the Congress.
